Stove/Oven Problems

Stovetop:
If your gas stovetop won't light, you will need to relight the pilot light(s). See the movie on the right for a demonstration. Gently lift the base of the stovetop. Locate the pilot light. Use a lighter or match to relight the pilot light. Usually there are two sets of pilot lights on a four burner stovetop. NOTE: If there is a large amount of gas present, DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. Please call maintenance as soon as possible at (217) 378-1222 during 8 am - 4:30 pm or (217) 531-3338 after hours.

If you have an electric stove, please submit a maintenance request.

Oven:
If your gas oven won't light or warm up, you will need to relight the pilot light. See the Quicktime Movie on the right for a demonstration. Remove broiler drawer to look below the oven in the back. Use a lighter or match to relight the pilot light.
