FACILITY NEWS

PASS PROGRAM will be moving from Trade Centre South to the freestanding office building at 505 W. University in Old Town, thus increasing their space from 8,000 square feet to 16,000. This expansion will help them further their mission of inspiring, encouraging, and empowering the medical students and physicians who enter their doors.

Scanics has renewed their lease at Illini Plaza, where they occupy 3,900 square feet. More information on Scanics can be found in the Tenant News section below.

United States Department of Agriculture has increased the size of its local operation, expanding its space at Illini Plaza from 600 square feet to 2,000.

Improvements are ongoing for Ramshaw's commercial properties. We re-landscaped all of Illini Plaza and Trade Centre throughout the summer. The building at 103 W. Kirby was demolished to create additional parking at Trade Centre, and a new canopy was installed at the building's west entrance. As the weather grows colder this fall, we will begin remodeling the atriums of both buildings, as well as the third-floor common hallway at Trade Centre.

Wolfram Research

Company's math expertise employed by CBS
With the start of the new TV season this fall, so began the fourth season of the crime drama NUMB3RS, which is "the math version of CSI," according to Wolfram Research public relations manager Marcus Wynne. Wolfram serves as "the official math brain trust behind NUMB3RS". The world's leading producer of software for mathematical and scientific computation, Wolfram is dedicated to spreading its passion for mathematics and computation throughout the globe. "We're helping to promote math and education," Wynne said. Members of Wolfram's R&D staff provide NUMB3RS with real math to support each episode of the show. Just as it is used in so many of today's real-world scientific and technological innovations, Wolfram's flagship product, Mathematica, is also used to create the math behind NUMB3RS.

Wolfram created graphics for CBS News earlier this fall, when there was the threat of a tsunami in Indonesia. The state-of-the-art graphics depicted how a tsunami comes together from a technical viewpoint.

Wolfram also received recent coverage on local CBS affiliate WCIA for hosting the annual Wolfram Technology Conference, which brings top developers, users, and researchers from all over the world to Champaign. The conference was held at Trade Centre, the Hilton Garden Inn, and Hawthorne Suites.

Health fair in early November
On November 7th, Wolfram Research, Inc. will hold its annual Health Fair for its employees and their families. This is an opportunity to learn what Wolfram Research, Inc., its insurance companies, and local businesses have to offer. In addition to obtaining information from these groups, participants can also get flu shots, free screenings, samples, and the ever-popular giveaways. The Health Fair offers a wide variety of vendors and chances to win great prizes. www.wolfram.com
