CARLI

Academic library program heads to Trade Centre South
The Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois is moving in at Trade Centre South, taking 8,900 square feet on the third floor. Ramshaw is working on a $350,000 remodel of the space in advance of their move-in. The space had been previously used by the University of Illinois' PASS Program, which has now moved to Ramshaw's office building at 505 University in Champaign. CARLI began operating on July 1, 2005, culminating several years of discussion and planning. It was formed by consolidating three existing Illinois academic library consortia: the Illinois Cooperative Collection Management Program (ICCMP), the Illinois Digital Academic Library (IDAL), and the Illinois Library Computer Systems Organization (ILCSO). These programs merged to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of services, increase the effectiveness of consortial and member library staff efforts, and create opportunities to pursue new programs and services that the three constituent consortia would not have been able to provide on their own. www.carli.illinois.edu

Committee on Institutional Cooperation

CIC expands their space at Illini Plaza
In the fall of 2003 the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) moved its headquarters to 1819 South Neil Street. With an increase in the number of CIC program and projects during the past four years, and an increase in staff, what seemed like lots of extra space in the beginning, slowly began to shrink, and once again more space was needed.

"Ramshaw to the rescue!" said Russ Snyder, CIC's associate director.

An additional 1,200 square feet of adjacent office space became available in the fall of 2007, and CIC will expand its headquarters to include the new space in the spring of 2008. The CIC is pleased to remain a tenant on South Neil, and to be able to continue its excellent relationship with Ramshaw and its staff.

This promises to be an exciting year for CIC: 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the CIC. The future holds great promise for the CIC and its member universities, and, with room to grow, the prospects look even brighter.

The CIC is the academic consortium of the universities of the Big Ten plus the University of Chicago. For half a century, these 12 world-class research institutions have advanced their academic missions, generated unique opportunities for students and faculty, and served the common good by sharing expertise, leveraging campus resources and collaborating on innovative programs. TENANT NEWS

Ramshaw Real Estate

Celebrating 20 years of trust, respect, and leadership
Officially organized as an Illinois corporation in 1988, Ramshaw Real Estate has become one of Champaign-Urbana's leading real estate acquisitions, sales, management, and development firms. The company started at College Corner Mall at the corner of Fourth and Green, then moved to 1402 South Neil, and finally settled in at Illini Plaza, 1817 South Neil, where it still is today.

The energy behind Ramshaw's dynamic growth from a 40-apartment management operation to a full-service leader in the local real estate market has come from many sources. One of these is the company's commitment to integrity, quality, and excellence. Another is the continued dedication to the interests of owners, investors, customers, and clients. But as many milestones as Ramshaw has celebrated - transactions completed, leases signed, final nails hammered - it's the people behind Ramshaw's success that have made it the special company it is today.

"If you are going to succeed, you must have a solid foundation of people," Jerry Ramshaw said. "We have been very fortunate that our core group of people have grown with our company and truly enjoy working with each other. We've experienced very little staff turnover, which helps a great deal when it comes to efficiency, continuity, and productivity."

More than half of Ramshaw's employees have been with the company since the '80s or '90s. Ramshaw's four managing partners have provided incredible stability for the company, with Joe Phillips leading development efforts since 1996, Alex Ruggieri managing brokerage services since 1989, and Todd Lienhart overseeing property management and maintenance, and Ramshaw running the entire operation, since Day 1 in 1988. www.ramshaw.com
