Campus
Many of the on-campus apartments in Urbana are nestled among university buildings and campus eateries, making it one of the most convenient—and sought after—areas in Champaign-Urbana. Providing incredible access to the Quad, the Music Building, Campus Rec East, and the School of Nursing, perhaps the biggest draw in this Urbana neighborhood is the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, which has been named one of the best performing arts centers in the country. This area is energized by the thousands of students who live here.

North Campus

Located between the major thoroughfares of University Avenue to the north and Main Street to the south, living in this area provides great accessibility to both campus and the rest of Champaign-Urbana. Non-students also enjoy this area and its proximity to campus, Campustown, Krannert Center, and Downtown Urbana.

West Urbana
A community that residents enjoy living and working in, the West Urbana neighborhood was recently honored for its sustainability efforts and selected as one of 10 Great Neighborhoods in America for 2007 by the American Planning Association. This is truly an incredible designation, as the other nine neighborhoods are made up of famous areas like Pike Place Market neighborhood in Seattle and North Beach in San Francisco. One reason West Urbana was because commuters walk, bike, or use public transportation instead of their cars at a percentage that's about triple the national average. The neighborhood was also recognized for its "inviting neighborhood spaces," such as Carle Park, and its focus on maintaining a high quality of life.

Downtown Urbana
Brimming with the energy of a classic downtown area, Downtown Urbana provides all the benefits associated with cosmopolitan living, without the big-city hassles. The nightlife and restaurants are just steps away, and the Urbana Free Library ranks in the top 1% of libraries nationwide. Lincoln Square Mall and the outdoors Farmer's Market it hosts throughout much of the year are also major attractions. Apartments located downtown are typically highly sought after, particularly in some of the newer metro-style buildings.

East Urbana
Heading east in Urbana brings you further from the university and into many areas where rents are much lower and parking much more plentiful than the areas closer to campus. Apartments in East Urbana are popular with students as well as the working class, as the wonder mass transit district runs numerous bus routes for quick connections to campus. With access to swimming pools and nearby parks, many renters stay in East Urbana for years. Another reason to stick around: many new retail businesses are popping up on High Cross Road, Urbana's far east border, making it as convenient a place to live as it is affordable.
